How to manage coccidiosis and necrotic enteritis without antibiotics

Intestinal health is the foundation of broiler performance — but achieving it without antibiotics requires strategy, discipline, and collaboration. In this episode of Future Feed Talks, Dr Sara Throne, Senior Director of Veterinary Services at Simmons Foods, shares how long-term planning and field execution come together in real-world poultry production.

With decades of global experience in broiler health, Dr Throne discusses her “make the plan, work the plan” approach to managing coccidiosis and necrotic enteritis under No Antibiotics Ever (NAE) and No Antibiotics Important to Human Medicine (NAIHM) systems. She explains how Simmons Foods evaluates phytogenics, vaccines and other non-antibiotic therapies using on-farm trials and processing performance data – all while balancing customer expectations, regulatory frameworks and animal welfare.
