dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health, a global leader in sustainable animal nutrition solutions, has today announced an update to their innovative Digital SalmoFan™ software, adding a new algorithm designed to accurately measure trout fillet color for partners across the entire value chain.
The Digital SalmoFan™ is a user-friendly, portable device that measures the color of salmon and trout fillets using a numeric scoring system. This latest innovation builds upon the existing SalmoFan™ and SalmoFan™ Lineal, which are widely used in the global salmon industry for fillet color measurement. This also brings globally recognized color metrics into the digital era.
Following success, the Digital SalmoFan™ has already gained traction throughout the salmon and trout industry, including feed producers, farmers, processors, and research institutions. Leading companies within the aquaculture industry such as Skretting Group, MOWI UK, and UniNord University who have successfully integrated the Digital SalmoFan™ into their quality and R&D initiatives - highlighting dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health's commitment as the industry leader in color measurement solutions.

The updated software now allows users to select between salmon or trout species, ensuring consistent color measurements anywhere, without light interference. This advancement provides an efficient and innovative method for gathering, storing and sharing data from objective and precise color measurements.
