dsm-firmenich inaugurates Kaiseraugst Headquarters and Science & Research Hub

The new hub brings leading-edge science, research and innovation capabilities closer to customers.

Kaiseraugst, Switzerland, and Heerlen, the Netherlands, December 6, 2023

dsm-firmenich, innovators in nutrition, health and beauty, today celebrates the inauguration of its Swiss headquarters and new Science & Research Hub in Kaiseraugst, together with local dignitaries and partners. The new building in Kaiseraugst will play a pivotal role in dsm-firmenich’s global network of Science & Research facilities and marks the next chapter in the company’s history of ground-breaking innovation.

The new Science & Research Hub brings together over 200 researchers in chemistry, formulation, application, and analytics. With two bridges, it directly connects Science & Research with Innovation and Business teams. The building’s design reflects how innovation thrives at the intersection of various disciplines: collaborative workspaces facilitate teamwork, exchange of ideas, and collaborative creation. The new building will also enable an 80% carbon-footprint reduction, thanks to more than 1,000 solar cells, state-of-the-art lab technology, and operation on 100% renewable energy, contributing to significant progress on our sustainability drive.

Dimitri de Vreeze, CEO of dsm-firmenich, expressed enthusiasm at today’s inauguration: “Today marks another milestone for dsm-firmenich. We are a powerhouse of creators and innovators, and this new Science & Research Hub will foster even greater collaboration. Bringing our world-class capabilities together will enable us to accelerate innovation, to better serve the needs of our customers.”

At the official ceremony, Dieter Egli, State Councilor of the Canton of Aargau said: “As Director of Economic Affairs, I am delighted that dsm-firmenich has chosen the Canton of Aargau as one of its two headquarters and is investing in the Kaiseraugst site. dsm-firmenich is an innovative company that researches cutting-edge topics and prioritizes sustainability, which we highly appreciate. The headquarters and the new research center are a clear commitment to the canton of Aargau as an attractive hub for innovation and business.”

The Mayor of Kaiseraugst, Françoise Moser, added: "The municipality of Kaiseraugst congratulates and thanks dsm-firmenich for the good cooperation. We would particularly like to emphasize the joint efforts in sustainability. The publicly accessible park is an enrichment for our municipality and a symbol of the successful cooperation between our municipality and the private sector."

Building on the company’s success as the world’s leading vitamin producer, dsm-firmenich’s Kaiseraugst-based Business Units, ‘Health, Nutrition & Care’ and ‘Animal Nutrition & Health’, have evolved in the last decade into global leaders in nutritional products and solutions. Today, innovation emerging from Kaiseraugst goes far beyond vitamins and is a result of global collaboration. It combines unique expertise and the broadest portfolio of nutritional products and solutions – including vitamins, carotenoids, enzymes, lipids, biotics flavors and much more.
