Vitamin D Overview
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for maintaining the mineral balance in the body. This nutrient can be synthesized in the skin upon exposure to ultraviolet-B (UVB) radiation from sunlight. When exposure to UVB radiation is insufficient, adequate intake of vitamin D from the diet is essential for health. Vitamin D supports the function of the immune system, and contributes to bone and teeth health, muscle strength and helps reduce the risk of falling in the elderly. Vitamin D can be formulated for all applications.
