Vitamin B5, also called pantothenic acid, belongs to the group of water-soluble B vitamins. An adequate supply of pantothenic acid is important because it is incorporated into coenzyme A (CoA), a key player in all aspects of metabolism such as breaking down fats, carbohydrates, and proteins for energy. Deficiency in vitamin B5 can lead to problems like depression, fatigue and upper respiratory tract infections.
