Our commitment to responsible sourcing extends beyond our direct activities to encompass end-to-end transparency and accountability. After all, as a global leader in ingredients and perfumery, we can leverage our scale and purchasing power to drive positive change – supporting human rights, fostering community empowerment, and preserving biodiversity.
Our ambition is to implement sustainable practices across our supply chains. But we know we can’t do it alone. We partner with our suppliers and customers to build ethical, traceable, and sustainable supply chains across industries. Together, we’re shaping a future where responsibility is ingrained at every step.
We adhere to global practices and reporting, including compliance with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), and preparation for the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), demonstrating our commitment to and performance on sustainability.
Our Responsible Sourcing Standard and Supplier Code not only provide clear framework for collaboration on sustainability across the value chain, but also support suppliers in improving their sustainability performance. We leverage best-in-class sustainability platforms such as EcoVadis, SMETA, and the UEBT Risk Database – to help us do this. Our due diligence framework translates international requirements and best practices into clear operational guidelines, ensuring we meet the very highest standards.
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. In fact, we carefully tailor our actions to the particular risks and challenges of each and every supply chain. For higher-risk supply chains, for instance, we proactively develop prevention, mitigation, and remediation plans alongside NGOs and public authorities.
For us, responsible sourcing includes the selection and monitoring of our suppliers, such as through Ecovadis scores and our Supplier Code, performing due diligence, and ensuring our ingredients follow specific, dsm-firmenich standards.
Certification plays a critical role in responsible sourcing. It offers credibility and transparency, while ensuring action plans are put in place for future renewal. It boosts traceability by ensuring that the ingredient’s origin and handling is documented and verifiable. And that’s not all: we ensure that ingredients are sourced under fair labor conditions and ethical business practices, which ensure the well-being of workers and minimize the environmental footprint of the ingredient’s production.
We partner directly with suppliers to implement programs that benefit both communities and biodiversity. By combining our joint expertise with action on the ground, we amplify progress and scale impact. In some cases, we collaborate with customers to extend our reach, maximize positive change and bring our shared vision for sustainability to life.
